Recently Dunstable Town Council (DTC) made the decision to update their website. The existing content management system had become dated, restricting the ability of Council officers to update the website as they would like. The website was not responsive, making the user experience more challenging for users accessing the site on mobile and tablet devices.

This was a big project and one that DTC did not want to get wrong. Through a tender process several companies submitted a proposal, with Treacle Factory ultimately being selected.

It was important to DTC to retain the existing functionality including the ability for users to pay bills and invoices online and buy event tickets. All of this had to go hand in hand with the ability for DTC officers to regularly update and add content. In addition to this, the Council wanted an ecommerce solution to sell products and a booking facility for the highly popular afternoon teas at Priory House.

Working with Treacle Factory, DTC was able to complete the redesign within the agreed timescale and approved budget. Since going live the website has been well received by both users of the site and the DTC staff that regularly manage the content. This is underpinned by regular support and maintenance that leaves DTC free to get on with their most important work.
