Active Luton are always looking for ways to improve the customer experience for visitors to their gyms and leisure centres. One way to beat the queues is to offer automated bookings and the IT department has been developing their own interactive kiosk for this.
With a highly versatile team, Active Luton created the carcass for the kiosk using MDF and perfected the design until they were happy that the screen, printer, and card reader all fitted perfectly. The final challenge was to give the kiosk a professional look, so they came to the Treacle Factory for some help.
The MDF casing was covered in a thin layer of foam PVC to even out any lumps and bumps, to give a smooth surface. A layer of printed vinyl with a protective laminate was then applied and carefully wrapped around to completely cover the unit.
Active Luton are now able to test this unit and if successful, will be rolling out more of the other centres within their portfolio.
